Research Topics:
Major scientific research fields 1- studying the bacterial membrane permeability, including genetic, functional, molecular and structural aspects : regulation and adaptation of membrane permeability, expression of porins and membrane transporters, functional domains of membrane proteins, .. 2- deciphering the relationships between membrane permeability and drug susceptibility : clinical aspects of resistance by modification of bacterial permeability (prevalence, evolution, ..), drug efflux pumps (expression, activity, ..), molecular bases of drug transport factors (genetic and external) involved in efflux pump expression 3- investigating new molecules blocking or bypassing the drug resistance mechanism : inhibitors of efflux pumps (synthesis of chemosensitizers) synthesis and activity of membranotrope compounds, analyses of new targets and new molecules, developing new probes for diagnosis
