Research Topics:
The major focus of our research is profiling host-pathogen interactions with high-throughput technologies. We study the acute and chronic Chlamydia trachomatis and Chlamydia pneumoniae infections in vitro and in vivo in mainly mouse and human hosts. We were the first who screened the Chlamydia trachomatis transcriptome in an interferon-gamma mediated in vitro persistence model. Through transcriptome profiling we identified the host p47 GTPase family as an anti-chlamydial effector system in mice. Our current research projects is related to the in vivo transcriptome and proteome profilings of acute and chronic chlamydial and other bacterial infections. We use Agilent custom microarrays and new-generation sequencing for chlamydia and host transcriptome profiling and Waters UPLC-MS/MS and Agilent HPLC-MS/MS systems as well as protein-chip technology for high-throughput proteome measurements.
