Research Topics:
The main interest of laboratory of Bacterial Cell Surfaces and Pathogenesis is the relationship of Gram-positive pathogens and their hosts, namely the role of cell wall synthesis and turnover in the process of host colonization and infection. Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae are some of the bacterial model organisms used to study the process of cell wall synthesis and its role in the trigger of an inflammatory response in different hosts.
