Molecular basis of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria from animal sources; Detection and characterization of novel resistance genes and mechanisms; Studies on mobile genetic elements involved in the dissemination of resistance genes (plasmids, transposons, integrons/gene cassettes); In-vitro susceptibility testing of bacterial pathogens and determination of veterinary-specific clinical breakpoints; Molecular epidemiology and genotyping of bacterial pathogens from animal sources; Physical linkage between antimicrobial resistance genes and virulence genes; Expression of resistance genes under different environmental conditions.
